Halloween Weekend 2020

Hey friends! Did everyone have a great Hall-o-weekend? It was very low-key around here (like most weekends around here) but I thought it was great to have Halloween on a Saturday. I think we should observe Halloween on the last Saturday of October every year, anyone else with me on that?

Sophie loves her toys from her Barkbox and I love that each month the theme changes. We were of course thrilled to see Halloween themed toys and Sophie has been enjoying her Vampy-corn, Barry Bones, and Ghouly Worm. If you haven't signed up for Barkbox and you have a pup it's a great idea to get a year-long subscription as a Christmas present for them! We truly enjoy having this box come each month and I think the price is 100% worth it!

Guys, it snowed here on Friday!! My poor pumpkin and mums enduring the storm, they look so sad!

We spent a lot of the weekend cuddled up on the couch and Sophie was thrilled with all of it! I love how sweet her face is in this picture.

I feel so lame. This is what I did for Halloween trick-or-treating. I made 30 treat bags and left them out for our neighborhood kids. We ended up with 5 leftover so it ended up being just about the perfect amount. Even though I put out a pumpkin and some little Halloween decals on the door, I didn't really do much outside decorating for Halloween. I always intended on going back out to pick up more pumpkins/gourds and make the front steps look nicer but I just never did. I felt especially bad about my decorating skills when I saw what The Blonde Abroad had done....

(This picture is a screenshot of @theblondeabroad Halloween post on Instagram)

How cute is her setup?! Her dog Bailey looked so cute as Harry Potter and I couldn't believe all the awesome decor she had. If you aren't already following her on Instagram she is one of my favorites. Normally she is traveling non-stop but has recently purchased a house in San Diego and is doing some home decor content which I love! I felt very inferior when I saw her decor versus what I had going on outside!! I always say next year....

Last week at BJs I picked up a huge box of Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate mix and I kicked off hot chocolate season on Halloween! I love fall and have enjoyed having my fall decor up inside our house but I am ready to decorate for Christmas.

It seems like more than half the people I follow on Instagram started decorating yesterday for Christmas. I didn't start yesterday but I am planning on starting very soon. Tomorrow I have the day off from work so I will be taking down all of my fall decor and giving the house a good deep clean and I plan on decorating for Christmas maybe next weekend. Let me know when you are planning on decorating for Christmas, I would love to hear how long you are waiting this year.

Speaking of tomorrow, it's my husbands birthday!!!

Happy Birthday Tim! You are the most patient, kind, wonderful person in the world and I cannot imagine my life without you. You are my match in every way and I am so lucky to be married to you!!

Birthday Weekend 2020

Well, it's happened. I am officially 32.

Despite 2020 (and my age) I managed to have a great birthday weekend! We started off on Friday night with a birthday dinner at my parents house. My mom, dad, my brother, my brothers girlfriend, Tim, Sophie and I celebrated with takeout from one of my favorite restaurants, Pasquales. It was delicious, I absolutely love their penne alla vodka!

I didn't take any pictures at dinner but I took this picture of my birthday gift from my parents.

My mom and papa both have similar birdbaths and I wanted one so much. I found this one at Walmart and requested it for my birthday. My sweet mom ordered it and my sweet husband lugged it into the car for me to take home. I have it set up on the side of our deck in the corner where it meets our new fence (post on that coming as soon as it's completed) and I plan to plant a ton of things in this area next spring! I want this to be a little secret garden area.

I also got a special birthday package from Rachel with this cute t-shirt inside! I panicked when I saw the mailman coming with an Amazon package because I couldn't remember what I ordered and I have been known to order so much stuff that I can't remember what is coming!

Sophie was feeling awful sleepy on my birthday Saturday! She slept almost the whole day while I puttered around, cleaning the house and getting ready because we had some visitors coming over.

Brittni came over with her family! Sophie can't contain herself around these girls, she is a nut! It was so nice to have them over for a pizza party and just hang out together. They brought me some beautiful flowers, KitKats and paintings they had done. You can see on the tv what our entertainment was- the girls love Hamilton!

My awesome husband also made me feel so special with a sweet sappy card and some KitKats (can you tell they are my favorite??). We decided to not do big gifts for each other this year since we generally just buy ourselves whatever we want anyways. We also would like to work towards our savings goals AND I just bought a new car so I don't really need anything gift wise ;)

I'm writing this on Sunday and this sums up our plans for the day...

Lots of hanging out on the couch!

I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to take on this new week!!

Our 1st Anniversary Weekend!

Good morning everyone!

Yesterday we celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe that it's been a full year since we got married, it feels like it was only a few weeks ago. I am so proud that we've bought a house and added a new family member in that time.

We celebrated this weekend and I wanted to share with you guys what our celebrations consisted of.

They were mostly Sophie centered if we are being honest. On Saturday morning Sophie had her first vet appointment (with us- she had previously been with the breeder and was only TWO pounds!). She did great and didn't even notice her shot! After we finished at the vet we headed to a local dog store called Fetch.

It was a great day to go because they were hosting a trunk or treat and giving away a ton of free samples! We picked a few things up for our fur baby, visited the trunk or treat, took her picture, and tried some agility training! She had a blast and we can't wait to go back and visit again. I highly recommend Fetch if you are in the South County RI area.

After Fetch we stopped by to visit our friend Emma at her family farm Shickasheen Farm. We picked up some mini pumpkins and mums for our front porch. Emma took the above picture and it came out adorable!

Then we headed over to Newport where we got married! We wanted to walk on the beach with Sophie and show her where we got married.

We haven't been back to the Rotunda since our wedding day so it was so nice to walk on the beach on a gorgeous day, it was exactly like our day one year ago!

This is where we stood during our ceremony and it's was so great to stand back in that same spot.

I love this picture of our little family.

This little girl brings us so much joy.

We went to Diego's for lunch. The crack fries there are absolutely amazing and Tim and I both enjoyed our food and Sophie enjoyed a few bites too!

She was so sweet and loved getting attention from everyone!

Look at those crack fries on the left, have you ever seen anything so delicious looking?!

Overall it was an amazing day with my little family and I am so happy to have spent my anniversary this way!

What did you do this weekend?

Kelsey and Eamon's Boston Wedding

Hey everyone!

Today I want to share with you our mini vacation to Kelsey and Eamon's Boston Wedding. Kelsey is the sister of my college roommate Megan. I was so honored to be invited to her wedding and it was such a wonderful weekend. Since we were in Boston for two nights for the wedding I have a little bit to share about our time in the city as well as a few of the details from the wedding and I love capturing my memories of events here on the blog and helping people out if they are traveling someplace I've been before.

Driving into Boston is always so picturesque. I think it's one of the prettiest cities with so much history.

We had plans to head straight to our Air BnB to meet up with Laura. Our place was located right near The Commons on Temple Place. The apartment we stayed in was a two bedroom and had plenty of room for all three of us.

After hanging out and chatting with Laura for a little bit we headed out to dinner in Faneuil Hall. We ended up eating at Anthem and splitting a few dishes between the three of us.

The cheeseboard was delicious....

The pretzels were incredible and the bbq chicken pizza that I didn't get a picture of was delicious as well.

We were planning on meeting up with everyone after they finished the rehearsal dinner but we had quite a bit of time until they were done so we headed over to the Bostonia for some drinks.

Once we got word that everyone was meeting up after the rehearsal dinner we quickly paid for our drinks and ended up meeting up with everyone at the Hilton Hotel Bar.

It was so nice to get a chance to hang out with everyone before the wedding and to see people we haven't seen in SO long! Some of these people I haven't seen since our wedding last fall!

After spending some time hanging out and having a few drinks everyone started dispersing to get some sleep before the big day.

When we woke up the next morning Laura and I had big plans to go to Drybar!

I had done some research on Drybar before going so I knew to expect my hair to be washed, blown out and styled but I had no idea how much I would love it.

Drybar was such a cool place from its super simple decor to the friendly hair stylists.

Pretty cool light fixture right?!

So after an hour appointment we emerged happy and our hair looking a little more tame! When you go to Drybar you get to choose a look off the menu. I decided to do the "Old Fashioned" which is loose waves. I was very happy with my choice and Laura looked gorgeous with her wavy hair!

We arrived back at the Air BnB and met up with Tim and headed over to Stoddard's to grab some lunch.

My French dip sandwich and onion rings were pretty good but definitely not the best I've ever had. We were given the recommendation of Stoddard's from someone at the wedding and they told us that the atmosphere was great. When we went at lunch time we were met with a really cool bar but a super strange bartender so it may have been a different experience at a different time of day!

After Stoddard's we went back across the street to our Air BnB to get changed and then called our Uber to head to the church!

We took a couple quick pictures before heading in our (non-air conditioned) Uber to the church. Seriously over a 100* and no A/C....It was a long ride. I know, I know first world problems.

Kelsey and Eamon got married at St. Cecilia's in Boston.

It is an absolutely gorgeous church.

We watched Megan walk down the aisle as matron of honor!

I didn't get too many pictures during the ceremony but doesn't Kelsey look gorgeous?!

After we left the church we went back to the apartment since we had quite a bit of time before the reception. We hung around, watched some tv and chatted and then headed over to the State Room.

The reception took place on the 33rd floor and once we got off the elevator we were greeted with a table containing the card box and guest book.

Once we entered the reception it was absolutely breathtaking.....

Seriously, how amazing is that view? I have never been to a wedding with a view like this before, it was incredible.

I'm so lucky to still be in touch with my college roommates! We don't get to see each other too often but it's always so nice to spend time together.

The flower arrangement centerpieces were gorgeous.

We were obsessed with this view!

First up for the meal was our salad course and it was delicious.

Although the sunset didn't happen outside our windows we did get a gorgeous cotton candy sky.

Our steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetables were delicious.

When the red velvet with cream cheese frosting cake came out we were excited to dig in and it was amazing!

It was such an amazing wedding with a live band. We are so happy for Kelsey and Eamon and are so thankful they invited us to be a part of their special day.

The next morning we headed to the post-wedding brunch and then came home after an exhausting and fulfilling weekend.

Have you been to any weddings this year? This was our only one this year and after last years marathon I can't say I'm mad about it! We had an amazing time and this wedding fulfilled everything I love about weddings: a beautiful location, an amazing couple and great time with friends!
