20 Pictures To Inspire You To Visit Southwick's Zoo

If you're a long time reader you will know that Tim and I love visiting zoos and aquariums! We are huge animal lovers and often when we go on vacation we make time to visit one or the other- or both!

On Sunday morning when we woke up and Tim said he wanted to go to the zoo I was all in! I was excited to bring my Canon Rebel T6 along so I could snap some pictures too. So here are 20 pictures to inspire you to visit Southwick's Zoo in Mendon MA.

The deer trail is very cool since it's so interactive. You are able to purchase food throughout the trail and deer constantly come to greet you.

Giraffes are definitely one of my favorite animals and I love seeing them.

They always have babies at Southwick's Zoo which is amazing! I am a huge fan of the baby monkeys in particular.

How colorful and gorgeous are these parakeets?

You can buy a small popsicle sticks and the parakeets will come to you to eat. I don't think you necessarily need to purchase these but you will certainly get closer to the birds if you do!

There's also a goat petting zoo and the goats are adorable.

The goats are super friendly and always come up to you even if you don't have food so you can certainly save that money in this exhibit.

I also love sloths and Southwick's Zoo has several varieties! This sloth mom had a baby and was keeping them super close.

Lastly, the new restaurant in the zoo is great! Galliford's Restaurant and Tavern is open year round and is a newer restaurant. Tim and I thought the food was great and the atmosphere was awesome as well. It felt a little like being in Animal Kingdom at Disney World. I highly recommend it!

Life Lately

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I thought today I would share some pictures of what's happening in my life lately!

A week ago we babysat little Emma!

We always have a blast watching her because she is so active and fun now! We got into a ton of activities such as pulling every book off her bookshelf and riding around the island on her hippo.

Also climbing on the coffee table. Such a troublemaker.

Last Sunday we went to the Roger Williams Zoo. We absolutely love visiting zoos, it's such a nice way to spend a few hours on the weekend.

The last time we visited this zoo was about two years ago when we first started dating so it was nice to go back and experience it again!

It was such a fun day and unexpected since we hadn't planned on going to the zoo initially. Aren't those always the best kind of days?!

Last week we had a nice dinner with Rachel, Ant and Tilly.  We met at The Boathouse in Mystic and enjoyed some yummy appetizers and baby snuggles.

It was so nice to catch up with Rachel and Ant since we don't get to see them all that often. Tilly is getting big so fast and is so much more aware and alert then she was before. It's so amazing how fast she's growing up!

This past Saturday we went to Megan and Josh's engagement party in Massachusetts,

The party was so nice out in their backyard. We were able to meet another couple who lives right nearby us and we have a ton in common with which was a great time.

I always forget how much I miss Megan until I see her! We spent so much time together in college it's always great to see her.

We saved a spot for Laura since we were both missing her during the party!

This weekend has also been filled with a couple of lazy mornings at home with homemade breakfast by Tim...well except the toast which was made by me. Yes, I have many talents!

Yesterday we spent most of the day at a BBQ outside which was nice. I ended up with quite a few mosquito bites but we had a good time.

Finally, I just wanted to share the polaroid pictures I took before we let this weekend. I have been playing around with my polaroid camera to try the different settings and love that it has a timer so we can take couple pictures together :)

So that's what I've been up to lately!

Life Lately: Bronx Zoo

When we woke up Saturday morning we had no plan as to what we were going to do that day. After watching a little bit of tv in bed and slowwwwly waking up we decided to head to the Bronx Zoo. It has been on our bucket list since last summer just like Six Flags New Jersey was so we were excited to stop there on our way home.

First we had to stop at a Wawa and get some Wawa mints.

In college my friends and I took a road trip to NJ and had to get Wawa mints while we were there, so I grabbed two so Tim and I could eat them! (Side note: We didn't....and they are sitting in our candy bowl right now)

After quite a bit of driving we finally arrived!

The Bronx Zoo is absolutely amazing! There are so many animals and the habitats they live in are gorgeous. As animal lovers it was great to see different animals then we have at the zoo here but also see what different habitats they created at a larger zoo like this.

The zoo it set up really nicely with a bunch of buildings separating exhibits. Birds in one building, insects in another, etc... There were so many areas to see and not enough time in the day!

As much as I loved seeing all of the animals; my favorite of the day had to be the gorillas!

The babies were absolutely adorable and we stood there watching all of them interact for a long time!

Once we had seen pretty much everything (and gotten 14,000 steps I might add) we headed back to the car. We made a quick stop for dinner at Longhorn which was decent, and an even quicker stop at the outlets, but then it was time to head home after a wonderful weekend vacation!
