November Birchbox

Last Tuesday I received my favorite little box in the mail! My Birchbox is truly a little $10 gift to myself every month and in my opinion 100% worth every penny!

Here are the products that arrived in my box this month and my initial thoughts on them.

The first item I found in my box is the Chella ivory lace highlighter pencil. The little card that comes with my Birchbox states that it can be used in ten different ways. I think this will be perfect to apply in the corners of my eyes to brighten everything up.

Next up is something that I know I will use super soon, Mox Botanicals coconut and vanilla bean bath milk. This powder gets poured into your bath and smells fantastic! I can't wait to use this in my next bath!

I love when I receive a nail polish in my Birchbox, and this month I got a beautiful fall gray color called Dark n' Stormy. I have lots of summer and spring colors in my nail polish collection, but am lacking the darker fall colors. I am thrilled to try this out and add it to my collection!

The perfume in my Birchbox this month is Viva la Juicy Noir by Juicy Couture. I have mixed feelings about Juicy Couture perfumes, some I really love while others are not my cup of tea. I will definitely test this out!

I am never sure about face products, but I will give Derma e smoothing skincare collection a try. It is a facial cleanser, serum and moisturizing cream that is meant for sensitive skin which is great since my skin is extremely sensitive. Hopefully this will work for my skin!

The last item, which is my Birchbox "Find" of the month is a Ghiradelli chocolate bar in the flavor mint cookie. I haven't tried this before, but I am thinking I might save this and include it in someones Christmas present =)

I can't wait to try all these products, I just need to find a few minutes to be able to take a bath...and paint my nails....and have five minutes to myself where I'm not working on a project...

Have a great day everybody! =)

Weekend Recap and More Projects...

Hey everybody! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I had self-proclaimed this weekend as one where I wouldn't do much of anything, have lots of time to myself and be able to relax a little bit...well we all know how that goes! Despite having a busy weekend, it was still a pretty good one!

On Saturday I went to see About Time with Rachel (TheShorelineBride) which was a strange, but really good movie. If you haven't seen it and are looking for a chick flick/date night movie then definitely check this one out! It was definitely a tear-jerker at times, but I managed to control myself =)

Sunday, we were hit with some sad news, my papa's girlfriend Vivian had a mini-stroke. Luckily she is okay but is going for testing and hopefully they will find out something that will help.
We were able to have some family time on Sunday, to celebrate my Uncle Craig's birthday at Mystic Pizza.

It was nice to get together with Papa and Uncle Craig and the kids. Especially since I haven't seen them in so long!

What else did I complete this weekend? Well after finishing up my dresser last week, it was clear that I had the painting bug...so I moved on to the next piece of furniture...my bookshelf!

This is what it looked like before. I love the look of my shelves right now..the arrangement of the books is orderly, yet pretty. I know exactly where the book I'm looking for is located, but they are arranged by height as well which makes it visually appealing.

I took a close up picture of each shelf so I will know how to put these shelves back together after I'm done with this project...

I really have been making quite a mess of my room lately. I still haven't finished my dresser project and now I'm adding the mess from my bookshelf project to the floor!

One coat later and a streaky mess. It always looks so disappointing after one coat of paint...

After two coats, I laid the bookshelf on it's side so I could get to the underneath parts of the shelf a little bit easier...

After three coats, it looks so much better!

I used the same white Behr Martha Stewart paint to re-paint this bookshelf and think it looks great! I now have half the furniture in my room white and half is wood. I'm hoping to eventually have all white bedroom furniture since that is a look I absolutely love.

My desk will not be painted because eventually one day I will have an office and the desk will no longer be in my bedroom =)

I have to wait a few days (or a week) to put all my books and items back on my bookshelf because I really don't want to ruin any of my books! So for now, my room is a complete disaster...and I have more projects on my mind...

What projects are you working on lately? Any painting going on where you are?

Weekly Couponing Wrapup + Photo Dump

Happy Friday everyone!

I have a very lame weekly couponing wrapup for you today...only one item =)

CVS this week has coupons printing out of the MCM for $4.99 off their 24 count Acetaminophen. Their Acetaminophen is only $4.99 to begin with which means you are getting it for free!

How can you resist free? Well I actually had to pay 20 cents in tax, but essentially it was free!

Now, since my coupon wrapup was lame this week with only one item, I thought I'd do a bit of a photo dump for you all!

Here's what I've been up to during the last week besides projecting...

I went to see Matthew Perry at URI. He was amazing, and as a friends-obsessed-maniac I was thrilled to be in the same room as him. I also yelled I love you to him as he was leaving the building after the show and he said thank you =)

I held the sweetest dog at a birthday party for a co-worker. This little girls name is Mindy and she (like Roxy) prefers to be held like a baby. When I stopped scratching her tummy she would paddle her arms violently to get me to start back up again. What a cutie!

I also had a bowling party for my friend Megan.

We had a great time hanging out at the nicest bowling alley I'd ever been to. They did tell me that sometimes the Patriots players hang out there...but we didn't see any that night!

In addition to all those things, I've been scrapbooking, working a ton, selling some things on Ebay and doing some major Christmas shopping.

Hopefully this weekend I'll have a little down time to get some things done and maybe relax a little bit! =)

Have a great weekend everybody!

Putting The Pieces Back Together....

Once I've made a complete disaster of an area, I always am thrilled to put the pieces back together and make a space organized again.

Yesterday, after a busy morning of scrapbooking with a friend, I came home to fix up my dresser and finish up this project!

Remember when I bought these beauties a month ago? So cheap and easy to find at Walmart, but perfectly simple and pretty.

I carefully put all of the knobs back on all of the drawers, not wanting to mess up the paint.

Then started lining the drawers with my drawer liner. Unfortunately one roll of drawer liner equaled one lined drawer. =(

So back to Home Depot I went...

and 4 more rolls of drawer liner later, I had five perfectly lined drawers sitting on my floor ready to be organized.

I changed up my drawer organization a tad since it will make more sense this new way. I have underwear in the top drawer, socks in the second, jeans/leggings/work pants in the third, sweatpants and workout gear in the fourth, and shorts in the fifth. I used to have workout gear in the third, fourth and fifth drawers mixed in with other items but now they are all together- makes much more sense!

It also looks like I don't have many clothes...

Clearly I need to go shopping for more =)

I am planning on doing a few little things to the top of my dresser and getting everything put back together this weekend.  I also have plans to paint another piece of furniture in my room...so that will be upcoming soon too!

What projects are you working on?

Painting, Painting, Painting

Yesterday was painting day!

As soon as I got home from work yesterday morning I set up my dresser on a drop-cloth and got to work!

I sanded the entire dresser first to make sure that any prior gloss was taken off.

Then I got ready to paint!

Here is the dresser after the first coat of paint. Very streaky...

I decided to rep my Target shirt that I stole out of Rachel's car Rachel sweetly gave to me, and promptly covered it in paint. Because that's what you do when you paint right? Make a mess? I'm not quite sure since I'm definitely no professional painter! =)

Second coat...

Third coat...all done!

Almost done with painting. At this point I had three coats of paint on the dresser and one coat on three of the drawers.

All done painting for the day!

Now to get the drawer liners in, knobs re-attached and everything back inside....
