Life Lately: Soccer, Sandals, Puppies and Dance Recitals

I am terribly behind with my life lately posts...and pretty much all my posts if I'm being honest. There's so much to tell you guys and not enough time to share it in.

Tim and I went to his nephew's (and my soon to be nephew) final soccer game of the season. Is there anything cuter then seeing little ones play soccer? I love when they all chase after the ball.

He was so unbelievably thrilled getting a medal.

And his older brother was so proud of him! So sweet!

I've been getting a ton of use out of my Kiki Sandals from CocoBelle. You can buy them here  and if you have no idea who Kiki is you HAVE to check out TheBlondeAbroad- check her out on Facebook, Instagram or on her blog. She is an amazing human being and I am obsessed with her!

Tim and I also had a lovely date night at a restaurant in East Greenwich called The SafeHouse. I had a chicken lasagna sandwich and I thought it was great but the fries were even more delicious!

Tim had a short rib sandwich which he said was delicious as well.

The real star of the show was the macaroni and cheese we shared. Absolutely amazing!

If you are ever in East Greenwich definitely head there and check it out! We sat outside on the patio and I definitely want to go back and hang out there with friends for drinks sometime. There are couches and a fireplace so it would make the perfect place for a weekend night!

I was able to spend some time with my dad on fathers day but he always evades my camera. My nephew Kai however loves to sit for pictures (Briefly... he's pretty fast!)

He's such a good and happy boy!

I also attended the recital of my cousins a couple weekends back. Annabel is in numerous numbers and Cailean (unpictured) performed a hip hop routine and they both did great!

I hope you are all having a fabulous day!

Megan's Bachelorette: Montauk Restaurants, Bars and Breweries

While staying in Amagansett for Megan's Bachelorette weekend we spent quite a bit of time in neighboring Montauk visiting various restaurants, bars and breweries.

I wanted to share my thoughts on them with you so if you are visiting the area you will know what to expect!

First of all this is most of the ladies from this trip and we traveled in a pack of 15 throughout our meals and pub crawl:

I'm sure we were slightly overwhelming to each place we entered since it was such a large group however if we were going somewhere to eat we did call ahead and/or make reservations so we could be guaranteed service.

Kelsey (pictured above next to me) was not only the maid of honor and sister of the bride but also the architect of the weekend itinerary. She did a fabulous job at planning everything out and my thoughts on the places we went are no way a reflection on the job she did! I'm also not a professional when it comes to food and drink so take my opinions with a grain of salt- I just share to hopefully be helpful to someone somewhere! (And because I like to remember places I've been and things I've done!)

Our Saturday night dinner was the first meal we ate in Montauk.

La Fine is a restaurant located in Montauk Manor. The atmosphere was definitely fancy and the hotel looked amazing with its old decor and rustic feel.

When we arrived one of the friendly waitresses let us know that there was a beautiful view around the back of the hotel and offered to take a picture of our entire group which was so sweet.

The view was gorgeous and it made for a great photoshoot! We headed back towards the restaurant where couches and tables were set up outside. We ordered a round of drinks and settled in to hang out before dinner. This is when the first issue popped up... I ordered a Malibu and pineapple juice and received a glass of rum- not even Malibu rum just regular clear rum. Ellen ordered a gin and tonic and received a glass of gin. Kelly ordered a vodka soda and received a glass of vodka. Very strange...we each got our drinks slightly straightened out and then headed inside for dinner.

La Fine is an Italian American restaurant so I was ready for it to be right up my ally. I love pasta so I knew I wanted to order the penne alla vodka from my first glance at the menu.

I thought it was fine but not anything amazing. I also heard similar comments about other food that was eaten at this meal. Two people had the baked ziti and one was still frozen in the center. We had two waitresses and they were both very sweet but kept forgetting to bring things we asked for. It was definitely an interesting dinner and I don't think any of us would ever return to this restaurant in the future.

Here we all are in the hotel lobby right outside of La Fine before dinner.

On Sunday we started with lunch at Gosman's Clam Bar. I am not a seafood lover so I was nervous about what I would eat but ended up ordering macaroni and cheese and a plate of French fries.

My mac and cheese was amazing! I ended up dipping my French fries in the sauce and it was amazing. I heard great reviews from everyone else about their food as well. The atmosphere was awesome as we were right on the water and the service was amazing. We had low expectations after the previous night but we truly did have an awesome time.

After filling our stomachs we headed off on our bar crawl.

The first bar we went into was Salivars. This bar/restaurant had a beach bar feel with all the fish hanging from the ceiling. The bartenders were all efficient and helpful and our drinks were great. The only downside was the small bar and lack of area to stand. They were moving around tables in the bar area which were only available if you were eating and I constantly felt in the way.

Our next stop was O'Murphy's which is the local Irish pub. It was what you would typically expect an Irish bar to be. There was plenty of room for us to hang out in, my drink was great (Montauk Sunrise) however the bartenders were a little rude. I'm sure they were a little overwhelmed with us as well!

Our third stop was a totally different vibe. The Liar's Saloon is definitely the local fisherman hangout and I think they were less than impressed when we rolled in! It was a small one room bar with very little seating or areas to hang out in. We only stayed for one drink and I didn't even have one.

Our fourth stop was the Montauk Brewing Company. As you may know if you read the blog regularly I don't like the taste of beer but I think visiting different breweries is a fun activity! This building was super cute and everyone had great things to say about their beers. I know this would be a place Tim would enjoy and would definitely bring him back to in the future.

Also, any place that allows dogs in is okay with me! Becca was in love with this puppy :)

Next up was Shagwong which was an old school bar with live music. This bar had plenty of room for us to hang out together and the drinks were made very well. This was one of my favorite stops along the way because it was a laid back atmosphere and you didn't have to yell to be heard.

Finally we went to The Point Bar and Grill which was also one of my favorite stops. This was a sports bar that we had our final drinks of the night. This bar was huge with plenty of seating, tvs to watch any sports you wanted (tough for a New England fan in NY though...) and our drinks and service was great!

We had a great time during all of our meals and our bar crawl and we definitely were able to see a great deal of Montauk!

Staycation 2018: Date Nights

Oh it's so hard to be back at work after having such a lovely staycation last week!

I have quite a bit of vacation time banked at work so I try to take off at least two full weeks a year (along with other random days throughout the year) in order to not lose time. Since we just went to Disney back in September and are trying to save money and be responsible adults we opted to just take a staycation!

Tim's job is seasonal so he has a few months off each winter which is nice for both of us since when I can take time off he's already home and waiting for me!

I thought I'd share a couple of date nights we had while I was off since we had a great time and they are definitely places to visit if you come to Rhode Island!

One of our date nights was at Dave and Busters. This is a bar and a huge arcade that is geared towards both adults and kids. Early on in our relationship (almost three years ago!) we went there and had a blast but were both still in the nervous stage so we probably spent more time worrying about embarrassing ourselves then we did actually playing the games. Tim actually commented on how it would be more fun this time because he didn't have to worry about me thinking he was a nerdy gamer.

We started with dinner which was pretty good. We ordered tater tots as an appetizer which ended up showing up at the same time as our dinner (a burger for Tim and mac and cheese for me) so the manager came over and apologized and offered us unlimited blue light games (games that don't give out tickets). We weren't even planning on complaining about this they just went above and beyond which was great! We also were given our appetizer for free which was an amazing added bonus.

After we finished eating we headed into the arcade to play a ton of games.

There are traditional games there such as skeeball, basketball, racing games, etc... There are also virtual reality games and casino-like games. I love playing the Deal or No Deal game even though I never win at it. We played a Walking Dead game which was fun and then a Jurassic Park game which was amazing! It was such a fun night roaming around the arcade and the best part is we spent only $25 on a game pass and had hours of fun! (The free blue light games definitely helped with that)

I still had the card with our tickets from the last time we went to Dave and Busters years ago so now we have a ton of tickets waiting to be spent in the gift shop. We decided to hold off getting any of the gimmicky items and will just keep saving for a bigger priced item in the future.

Our second date night took place in South Kingstown at a pizza restaurant.

We had heard great things about Pasquales and from the moment we walked in it did not disappoint! The restaurant had a great Italian feel and we chose to sit at the bar where we could watch the wood fire pizzas be cooked right in front of us. Above is the wood fire which cooked pizza in just a few minutes.

While Tim opted for the Arturo pizza I of course went for the Alla Vodka.

Tim ordered a Whaler's Rise which is a beer from a local brewery that we have visited a few times.

We enjoyed hanging out together and watching everyones food get cooked right in front of us. Soon it was time to eat!

I opted to have no prosciutto on my pasta since I'm not a huge meat person and prefer to just eat all the pasta I can. The vodka sauce was amazing and I would've been happy to eat it out of a jar with a spoon. I commented to Tim that I wanted a jar to take home and eat.

Tim couldn't say enough good things about his pizza. In fact, he asked if I would judge him for licking the plate. I didn't have any of it but I can tell you that it was a thin crust and looked delicious! He also said that he would never eat any other meal out again if we could go there once a week and eat a pizza.

If you are ever in RI definitely head down to South Kingstown for a great meal at Pasquales-it's totally worth it!
