Fathers Day Celebrations

Fathers Day around here was a relaxed day with a few great guys to celebrate!

I woke up early and gave my dad his gift (a Sears gift card, the WaxVac, and a few candy bars) and the two of us headed out to breakfast at a local restaurant, The Gentleman Farmer Diner.

I had two delicious sides, white bread toast with butter and homefries. I love homefries, they might be my all time favorite food. =)

Looks yummy huh?

After breakfast with my dad, I had to head home to meet up with my mom and carpool to lunch! We we headed to CT to meet up with my papa, his girlfriend Vivian, both my uncles and two of my cousins.

Before we got to the 99 for lunch, my mom and I had to stop in at Kohls to do a little shopping! I ended up with my first pair of running shoes (which I'm really excited about-you will definitely be hearing more about in the future), a candle, two new pairs of shorts, and three new tank tops. A little impulse shopping is good every once in awhile!

Then it was off to the 99 Restaurant. I ordered a lunch portion of the broccoli chicken macaroni and cheese. It was delicious, but definitely a TON of calories. I didn't realize quite how much was in there and had to adjust my exercise plan and calorie count for the day...I will avoid ordering it in the future- it is absolutely DELICIOUS don't get me wrong, but way too many calories for one small meal...

After lunch, we did a few other errands and then came home where I worked on an organization project (coming up next...), and then did a little bit of running followed by a circuit workout. It felt good to get on the treadmill and run out all the excitement!

Overall a great day! =)

Maid of Honor!

Well, it was an exciting weekend!

Saturday, after a looooong morning at work, I got to see one of my favorite co-workers, Kayla who is just about ready to give birth! She is going to have a little boy, who is due early July but I personally think he's going to arrive earlier! =)

Then I drove to Connecticut to visit my best friend Rachel, but on the way I spilled all over myself!

I'm not sure why I bother wearing white! My iced coffee got all over my white shirt! =(

When I arrived at Rachel's, I was greeted with this at her front door....

Yes! She asked me to be her maid of honor!

and gave me the sweetest gift! =)

I am so excited to be her maid of honor!!!! She is planning a wedding for next summer and I am thrilled to be a part of it!

My first maid of honor duty was to help her make the bridesmaids gifts! She made some margaritas and we got started!

We worked for so long that we had to have some mac and cheese!

Just showing you that you can indeed see my signs on her door from the parking lot! So cute!

Then she took me to a local place where her fiancee Ant proposed to her! It was so nice to be able to see where it all went down!

I am so excited to get started in the planning process! Although I don't feel comfortable sharing EXACTLY what was in the box Rachel gave me, since it was her project and all-- I have linked a few projects below in case you are interested! The items she included were very cute and she even had a list with the reason for each one!

Bridesmaid Gift Boxes
How To Ask Your Bridesmaids
Cute Idea To Ask Bridesmaids

I think these are such cute ideas-but it's always nice to make it your own! I can't wait to help Rachel with more DIY wedding projects and will definitely share them with you along the way!

On My Project List...

Hey everyone!

Sorry this post is a little late today- as you may remember from my previous posts, I am getting into the busiest time of my year! Yes, busier than Christmas....crazy right?

Even though things are crazy now, everything will be calming down in mid-July and I'm starting to think about what projects I want to complete. I do have several places I still want to organize and several craft projects I need to complete.

So here's what's on my current to do project list...

1. Organize my makeup and nail polish.

My makeup organization is pretty disastrous considering I have collected a ton of makeup that I have no place for. I need to find a system that works for me! I have too much nail polish for my current system and I would like to have them organized by brand as well.

2. Organize my DVDs

This is still on my list because I am not sure what I want to do with them! I think the cases are too big and the DVDs need to be removed and placed in a smaller system but I need to figure out how I want to go about it. This summer I will be working on this project.

3. Finish my 2012 Scrapbook

My scrapbook is stuck in last summer. I really need to get on this!

4. Get started on my Dance Quilt

I want to take all of my old dance costumes and have them made into a quilt. I would also like to do something similar with my URI t-shirts and my race t-shirts....but I want to get the dance one done first!

5. Update my Postcard Scrapbook

I decided to take all of my old postcards, scan the written messages into the computer, print out a copy and place both sides into a scrapbook so I can keep all the postcards and messages but have them in a place where I can easily view them. I have SO many to go through....

I'm sure that as I am running around my room like a crazy person I will find more projects that I want to complete this summer- I will keep you updated?

What are the next 5 projects on your project list? Do you have organizational projects or craft projects on your list?

Have a great day everybody! See you back here tomorrow for my weekly couponing wrapup!

June Birchbox Opening!

My Birchbox arrived in the mail on Monday and I am super excited about this months box!

The theme this month is Wanderlust and is about jet-setting off on your next vacation...makes me think about leaving for Disney World in July and even better, leaving for France in September!

The first item I saw in my box is the Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo. This shampoo is meant for dry frizzy hair which is exactly what mine is! The smell of it is a typical shampoo smell, I wish it was fruity or something, but the smell is not horrible... I definitely will be trying this!

This Something Blue perfume by Oscar de la Renta sounds interesting, it is apparently made with mandarin and linden blossoms. I have not sniffed it at all so I will have to test it out.

I was REALLY excited to see the Color Club nail polish in my Birchbox! I received a nude color called, Mod in Manhattan. I'm not sure what other colors people received but this color is different then other colors I have so I like it!

Next product is Davines Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion which is a product you apply on your hair when it is wet to keep frizzy hair tame. I will definitely be trying this after I take my next shower!

The Davines Love Soothing Conditioner matches up with my shampoo and oil absolute beautifying potion. I will definitely be using this!

The last item in my Birchbox is Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser. This is a cleanser that is kind of like a scrub, almost like a sugar scrub in texture. The smell is lemony which is great! I'm excited to try this!

Lastly, there were some postcards in the bottom of my box. I'm not really sure what to do with these but they are very cute!

So that's what is in my June Birchbox! This is a great box and I'm definitely excited to try out all the items inside! =)

I'll be posting my review on this box in a couple of weeks so stay tuned!

To Do List Notebook and Organization Binder Update

I am here today with my updated organization binder and my new to-do list system. I know last week I briefly discussed making a new system for my to-do list. I needed to change something because I was constantly finding post it notes with things written down, and having to rewrite my list over and over again- enter, my to-do list notebook!

This baby was purchased at Staples and is part of the Martha Stewart collection. I absolutely love these notebooks (I already own two of the larger ones) and think that the color and pattern of this one is just adorable.

This notebook has several lists inside already, the first is my work to-do list.

(I have blurred out any sensitive information throughout this post to keep the privacy of my students and myself)

The next list is my personal to-do list

Then on the third page I have my Blog Topics list where I list things that are happening in the next month or so that I can blog about. I also would place any topics that are suggested or requested by readers on this page.

In addition to the above pages, I also have a page that outlines my blog posts for the next few weeks. It is not a definite list of topics, but I like to keep an idea of what topics I want to cover and how many "free" days I have to blog about personal things such as my weekend recap, or an exciting event that has happened. I like to plug in my organizational topics and other posts that I know I want to do first, and then add in the filler so there is a variety.

In addition to my new to-do list, I wanted to review how my organizational binder is helping me and what sections I've been using and what sections I haven't.

My tabs are labeled as follows: Calendar, Lists, Bill Payment, Budget, Spending, Saving, Style, Workouts, Gifts and Inventory.

I never use the calendar tab. Ever. I have my planner which I carry with me 24/7 so I really don't need a tab for a calendar in this binder. I am still unsure what I will put in that section but I am still thinking about it. I will let you know when I figure it out.

In my lists section, I have a huge list of projects I want to complete...

A list of scrapbooks to complete...

A plan for my dance quilt and URI quilt...

and some future home ideas...

Next, I have a bill payment check-sheet where I keep track of all the bills I have to pay and check them off after I have scheduled the payment for them. I keep track of what bills are scheduled, what ones need to be scheduled and my current balance on my credit cards on the post it notes. I update these about every 1-2 weeks to make sure I'm keeping an accurate account of what is going on with my finances.

In my budget section I keep a sheet that details all of the categories i foresee myself spending money. I make an estimation about how much I can spend in each category and then at the end of the month I fill out the actual column and calculate if I was over or under my budget goal. Keeping track like this makes me spend a lot less than I did before that is for sure!

I also keep track of every purchase I make in the spending section of my binder. It really helps me make sure I am staying on track

In the saving section I keep track of all the money I make in my paychecks and also in other ways, through rebates, swagbucks, ebay, etc...

I keep track of my coupon savings...

and keep my savings balance up to date...

Finally in the gifts section- I keep track of gift ideas for friends and family..

What I've already purchased for them..

Extra gifts I have around I could always use...

Stocking stuffer ideas...

And lists of what has been given to me so I know how much to spend on people...

The other sections of my blog aren't used quite as often, and style and workouts are mostly just for me to keep reference articles and papers in. The inventory hasn't been updated in awhile but it is where I keep track of things such as my DVDs and books.

and that's it! That's what my new to-do list notebook looks like and what my organization binder is doing these days. Let me know how you keep these things organized!
