Our Home Office

Growing up both my parents always had offices in our home. My mom was a teacher so hers was full of crafting supplies and for some reason I got it in my head that I would have an office in my house when I grew up too.

Tim pointed out that it wasn't necessary because neither of us work from home. Well... now, with everything going on, I do. 

Our office was outfitted with Ikea furniture and mostly just holds office supplies and everything else we aren't sure what to do with but I love that we have this space. We still need some serious organization systems in here and definitely need to do an overhaul at some point, but for now it's working.

The desk is from Ikea and I would love to get a new office chair since this one squeaks constantly. Right now I have quite a few work related items on this desk but usually it is just where I house my items for paying bills and my coupons.

The Alex 9 drawer from Ikea used to house all personal items like makeup and lotions. Now it houses those items in the top few drawers and then office supplies in the bottom. I plan to eventually make this full of all office supplies.

It certainly isn't a perfectly organized and beautiful space but it has come so far! I love collecting books and it makes me so happy to have all my favorites housed on the bookshelf along with some of our personal decor we have collected. 

I haven't found a solution for my scrapbooks so for now they are just stacked here. This small organizer has some office supplies and also holds all my hanging files. I try to not keep extra paper but we do have quite a bit that I think is important to save.

I love my Martha Stewart wall organizer where I house my "TO DO" and "TO FILE" papers. It's nice that Tim and I have a place to toss things and I can set aside time each week or so to file and do the items inside. I find that this saves me time in the long run instead of constantly filing!

All my jewelry (aka all my Wet Seal and Kohls jewelry) lives in this jewelry armoire along with my collection of free sunglasses and sewing supplies. What can I say? I'm not an expensive jewelry girl. I don't take good care of sunglasses so I will never spend more than $5 on them and I know I will break all of my jewelry so it's not worth it for me to spend money on it.

I love my tall bookcase from Ikea. It needs a little work but as some point I will put aside the time to get this done!

Another look back at my small bookcase. 

I love having some decor from our wedding in here! I hated the idea of buying things for the wedding and then getting rid of them so I made sure things like our card box and our decor (MR&MRS sign) were things I would include in my house. My brother made our card box and I found a decal on Etsy to attach and it turned out amazing. He is truly talented!

Our Master Bedroom

Today I am sharing with you our bedroom! Again, as I think I said during our living room tour this is what our house looks like right now. Things will change as we update our home, especially if we turn this into our forever home, which is still up in the air!

We chose the biggest bedroom for our "master bedroom" although it is only slightly bigger than the other rooms. All of the bedrooms are quite small but we managed to fit all our bedroom furniture inside this room.

I am still torn about curtains, I'm not sure if I want them or not. When I see a picture like this I think it looks empty and needs curtains but on a day to day basis I like the simplicity of just having the shades.

When you walk into our master bedroom you see our bed immediately which always holds Sophie's blanket and "Piggy" the stuffed animal pig that Sophie sleeps with every night.

This view is from the closet in this room. I love our Pier 1 headboard and as much as I would love to have a king sized bed someday I would be so sad to not use this headboard anymore! I laughed while looking up the headboard link because I remember Tim commenting on how I made such an expensive purchase. It's on clearance right now so definitely go check it out (it's 50% off currently!) but even when it was full price it's not as expensive as half the stuff we have to buy for the house nowadays. Oh my how things change :)

Our nightstands and both dressers are from IKEA. They have held up really well and are quite sturdy. I love that there are super deep drawers but if I could go back in time I would have purchased the white ones instead of the brown-black color. These show dust SO easily and I think the white would've been a little bit easier to hide dust.

Looking back towards the doorway you can see the closet door and our tall dresser. I love the decor on top of the dresser. I just set a few things on top and ended up loving it! The let's stay home sign has never been so relevant.

Our long dresser holds our tv and some personal care products. I also have two hampers, one for clothes and one for towels, blankets and sheets. I purchased these off Amazon and they are the XL and L size respectively. 

One more view back up the bed. Our comforter was a wedding gift and it's so soft! Our lamps were purchased at Target and are so simple but I like them that way. 

So that is our bedroom so far. Like I said, we will continue to make updates to our home so I'm sure someday you'll see this room and it will look totally different!

Packing, Food and a Graduation Party

I cannot believe how fast this weekend flew by! I feel like it was just Friday afternoon and it's already Sunday night. I often wish I could drag the weekends out a little more, especially busy ones like this one was!

On Friday I worked cleaning an office after my regular job so it was a pretty tiring day. Luckily I had an amazing boyfriend to come home to who had waited for me to have dinner. We decided to head to The Haversham for a quick dinner and it was awesome.

I had met friends for dinner and drinks there before, but this was the first time I have ever sat down in the dining area. We both ordered the french onion soup and it was cheesy and delicious. I always feel like I could eat a few bowls of french onion for dinner and be completely content. 

I opted for the French Dip sandwich and french fries for my meal and loved it.

Then we split a brownie sundae for dessert which was fantastic. Anything that has hot fudge on it is fine by me!

Saturday morning when Tim had to work I spent my time packing up our bedroom.

We still have a ton of stuff to pack and sign our lease on Thursday so it will be a busy week for us!

I have been bringing a ton of boxes home from work but we are already out of boxes! It's amazing how much stuff we have. As you can see when Tim arrived home from work he was super helpful...

Just kidding! He knows to stay out of my way when I'm in super organizing mode :)

Saturday afternoon we headed off to Tim's sisters house since she was hosting her boyfriends graduation party.

Obviously it meant lots of puppy playtime!

We had an awesome time hanging out with his family and playing with the puppy. It was a fun night!

This morning we decided to start with breakfast at T's in Narragansett.

My breakfast was great! I had home fries, bacon, scrambled eggs, and buttermilk pancakes. 

Tim opted for an omelet with toast and buffalo home fries and only had great things to say about his food!

After breakfast we made the hour drive to IKEA! Tim had never been so it was an experience for him.

I'll be back a little later this week to share all about our shopping experience from today...it's going to be a little long and will definitely take up a full post! We ended up buying quite a few things for our new apartment and I can't wait to share everything with you guys!

A Fun Girls Weekend!

Hey everybody, I hope you had a fantastic weekend! I personally am not a fan of Daylight Savings Time and always have a hard time during "Spring Ahead" losing that precious hour of sleep... however, I greatly enjoyed the sun staying out till after six tonight =)

This weekend flew by around here- the weather has started to get warmer here in Rhode Island (today it was in the 40s!!!) and I had super fun plans for the weekend.

I started off my Saturday with a quick Step class and then headed home to shower and change. I headed to Connecticut to visit Rachel and Ant and meet their newest addition Franklin.

Franklin is Rachel and Ant's new puppy and he is such a sweetheart! He spent most of my visit sitting in my lap and I just wanted to cuddle him the entire time! He really made me miss Roxy =(

After spending some time time with Franklin- Rachel and I headed out to get our nails done. It was so relaxing getting mani-pedis and the salon that we go to when I visit her gives a free ten minute massage after each nail service- it's amazing =)

After our nail appointments- I spent a little more time visiting with Rachel, Ant and Franklin and then headed off to the other side of Connecticut to spend time with my college roommates Megan and Laura!

Once we were all together and caught up we headed into downtown West Hartford for dinner. We ate at The Cheesecake Factory and to my dismay Penny wasn't working... (any Big Bang fans out there?!) After we ate dinner and had a few drinks we walked down the street to a local bar called Barcelona- unfortunately we were ignored and unable to get drinks after standing at the bar for quite some time- so instead we went next door to Bar Taco where we almost instantly found seats at the bar and got drinks!

We had a great time people watching, talking to the bartender and having a few fruity cocktails. We stopped in a third bar (Grants) before heading back to her house and ran into a few guys who were actually groomsmen in Rachel and Ant's wedding. CT is almost as small as Rhode Island!

After a good nights sleep it was time to go for brunch at Grants where we had stopped the night before...

Then.... it was time for IKEA!!

I found what I have been wanting to buy for a year now. It was super exciting.

We tested out some beds...

and rode on some carts...

After getting Laura's items in her house and my huge box in the my car- I headed back to Rhode Island before it got too late!

Then it was time to build the Alex 9 drawer unit!

At first I was a little overwhelmed by how many pieces there were to the Alex. I did find that it was fairly easy and the directions were simple to follow.

Halfway done...and still SO many pieces left to go.

When I was done I was so excited. I've been dreaming about owning this piece of furniture for about a year now.

It sits nicely in my closet next to my dresser. Now I know you're probably wondering what I keep inside...but you'll have to wait for a future organization post to find out!
