New Years and Boston!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a great New Year's Eve and are ready to take on 2016!

My New Years Eve was spent with Tim and we went to two different parties and I loved being able to get dressed up.

On New Years Day, Tim, his parents and I headed to Foxborough to see the Bruins play in the Winter Classic! It was held at Gilette Stadium which was super fun. We tailgated before the game and had a delicious parking lot breakfast!

After the game (which unfortunately the Bruins lost) we headed into Boston to stay overnight at the Harborside Hotel! The room was absolutely gorgeous and HUGE!

We ate a delicious Italian dinner at Pagliucas in the North End and then out for drinks at The Black Rose. I love Boston, it's such a fun city to spend time in. I have to say I highly recommend Pagliucas for their penne in vodka sauce- it was fantastic!

On Saturday we woke up, had breakfast at the hotel and then went to Frost, a bar in Boston where the temperature is 21 degrees!

If you've never been to a Frozen Bar it is worth a trip! The average time inside is about 45 minutes which we pretty much stuck to. They do acclimate you to the temperature and it definitely isn't unbearable inside, but after 45 minutes it does get VERY cold!

While in Faneuil Hall we checked out the tree, and then we headed to Dicks Last Resort for some drinks. Of course they gave us some awesome hats!

After spending the afternoon at Dicks, we went to Drink, a bar where you tell them what kind of drink you prefer and they make you something different every time.

My drinks were all really fruity and they did a great job making each drink we asked for. One of Tim's drinks was a just like an ice coffee, it was awesome! I was really impressed with how much effort went into each drink, I would highly recommend stopping by Drink if you are in Boston!

Our second dinner in the North End was at Asiago and once again I had penne with vodka sauce. It was just as good as the dinner the night before!

We stayed in another hotel along the harbor which was beautiful!

It was an amazing weekend in Boston! We had the best time and I was bummed to have to head back into work on Monday morning!

I hope everyone had a great weekend and New Years!

2014...2015

Well, it's here New Years Eve. It's time to start thinking about what we want to change in the next year. What goals we want to set and what we regret from the year that has passed by. Here's what I want to change:

1. Be Social.

In case you weren't aware (I don't think I've ever discussed this on the blog before) I suffer from anxiety. One of the best things one of my ex-boyfriends ever did for me was convince me to see a doctor and get anxiety medication. My anxiety is mostly social- I get nervous entering into crowded rooms or going somewhere and meeting someone. I'm always nervous that I won't be able to find the person I'm supposed to meet and will end up wandering aimlessly while people around judge me. It sounds stupid- but it's really difficult to function in a world like this.

My goal for 2015 is to work on being social. I want to talk to more people and not hide in my shell. I'm a pretty shy person and it's difficult for me to think up things to talk about in social settings. I want to work on combating that this year.

2. Let My Guard Down, But No Broken Hearts

I fall fast and hard. This is something I also haven't discussed here on the blog since it's a more personal issue, but I think it's important to share. I tend to do one of two things when meeting someone new: I either guard my heart with walls of steel or I let my guard down too quickly and end up with a broken heart. I know it seems like an unrealistic goal but I would like to find a happy medium where I'm not hurting but also not regretting how I lacked putting myself out there.

3. Find A Healthy Balance Of Health and Fitness

I now work at a place with a gym built in- and get a free membership. It's a pretty amazing perk but I also don't want to hang around at work more then I already have to. I need to create a plan to fit exercise into my life in a healthy way. I also want to start planning out my meals and making sure I'm living a healthier lifestyle. This isn't to lose weight or reach a crazy fitness goal- it's simply about being healthy.

4. Create Balance On The Blog

I need to work on creating a balance in my life that allows me to get all my work done and still have fun. I also need to remember my responsibilities. I go through phases where all I can think about is this blog and getting new content on the site as quick as possible. Other times I forget about it for days because there is so much going on in my personal life.

I enjoy blogging so much that I know I could never give it up- but this year I may not always post five days a week. Project 365 will be ending tomorrow and I will not be doing it again in 2015. Couponing Wrap-ups will no longer be weekly and I will only post them when I actually feel like couponing. I'm not sure what other changes will come throughout the new year but I promise my presence in this little corner of the web will never disappear. =)

What are your goals or resolutions for 2015?

Have a great New Years Eve everyone- be safe and I'll see you all next year ;)

2014 Resolutions

Today we're talking about New Year's Resolutions!

I am one of those people who makes a ton of resolutions and can usually only handle one. I have done pretty well over the last two years. Two years ago I quit biting my nails- something I'd been doing since  birth. Last year I quit drinking soda regularly- something I'd been doing since childhood. I am quite proud of myself for completing these goals, but it's a new year and time for new challenges!

I decided to pick five things to focus on this year.

Finally get my second tattoo.
I have been talking about getting a second tattoo forever. I know exactly what I want and where I want it, but I need to make it happen! So don't be surprised if you find me a little more tatted up in 2014!

Take a ton of pictures.
I am planning on doing Project365 on Instagram this year. Project 365 is where you take a picture every day for the entire year. I want to post a picture a day on Instagram, which shouldn't be too difficult since I take a ton of pictures anyways, but I want this to be something I stick with all year long! I will make sure I share this on the blog, but you can also join me over on Instagram by clicking the link in the sidebar -------->

Less stuff = Less stress
This mantra refers to my new donation plan for the year which you can read all about in yesterday's post.

Get into a regular exercising schedule.
I am hoping that my new Fitbit will inspire me to move more every day. For the last week, I have been taking part in the 30 day squat challenge, as well as making myself complete some sort of work out every day. I know that it will be more difficult being back at work and exercising regularly, but I am willing to try! I want to get back to the shape I was in when I danced every day.

Write every day.
Not just here on the blog, but other places as well. I want to keep a journal and write in it regularly. I also hope to write out some of the stories that are bopping around in my head. I always have dreamed about writing a book, maybe this will be the year? No pressure =)

What are your resolutions this year?!

Less Stuff= Less Stress

Happy New Year everybody!

I like to start the new year off with a clean slate and this year I decided to adopt a new motto. Less stuff=Less stress. I am trying to get rid of the clutter in my life. It is so easy for things to get completely out of control, to have insane amounts of stuff and I don't want to live a life like that. I want to only keep what I need and what I love, there is no reason to have tons of excess.

Last January I showed you how I tagged all the hangers in my closet and in November I gave you an update on how it was going.

I donated quite a few pieces of clothing throughout the year, but now there were items that had tags and I knew I wouldn't be wearing them again since I hadn't worn them through the entire year.

So I dumped them!

and counted them! 21 items (just hanging clothes) that I hadn't worn all year long. It's amazing that there were so many items hanging in my closet all year long that I never wanted to wear. I never thought about these articles of clothing, but now that I seem them in front of me I can't believe I continually held on to things that I never wore.

I also found a few t-shirts that I decided to part with. Now my t-shirt bins are no longer overflowing!

Much nicer!

Next it was time to tackle my scarves...

I found two scarves to donate!

I also found a TON of other items to toss into the pile of donations. Towels, hats, bags, purses, wallets, swimsuits, etc…

I put together a couple bags for the Salavation Army, and put aside a few items that I wanted to sell on E-bay.

I also found a few old jewelry items that I never wear. Mostly diamond candle rings that aren't worth anything, jewelry I made with the kids at work, some old charm bracelets, and a Wet Seal watch I've never even worn.

Everything is all ready for donations! My dad and I have already been to the Salvation Army to share this with people that may use these items. I love knowing that these things are going to people who will actually wear them/use them every day.

So throughout the year, I plan on continuing my donation plan. I donate items regularly, but throughout this year I plan on going through all my things often and getting rid of the clutter! Anyone out there with me? Less stuff = Less stress!!
